Athlete(s) of the Week

Morgan Michael (HS Girls Track)
Coach Laura Stoutenborough’s comments: “Morgan is one of the senior captains.  She took on a new event this season, the 300 hurdles, while continuing to secure her spot in the 4x800 relay.  I am excited to see her times decrease as the season progresses.  Her leadership, character, and work ethic continue to be a great role model to our younger athletes.”

Marin Weibel (HS Girls Track)
Coach Laura Stoutenborough’s comments: “Marin has developed into a strong long-distance runner on our team this season.  Marin has shown great improvements from last season.  She got 2nd out of 20-plus runners Friday at the TVS Invite.  She continues to work hard and has a positive attitude and is excited to see what the end of the season brings.”

Titus Walton (HS Boys Track)
Coach Devin Stoutenborough’s comments: “Titus is a Freshman long-distance runner.  HE can run 400, 800, Mile and 2-mile.  He has been a great addition to an already stacked long-distance team.  Titus is a go-getter, tell him what you want and he will work to accomplish that. Titus has a bright future for Valley View Track.”

Jed Lynch (HS Boys Track)
Coach Devin Stoutenborough’s comments: “Jed is one of the best pole vaulters in the area.  He continues to improve nearly every meet.  This year he picked up 2 new events to help the team, 110m Hurdles and 300m Hurdles.  He volunteered to do them to give his team a better chance to win.  That is what a winner looks like.”

SPARTY Awards coming this Spring!

Save the Date: Tuesday, May 21, 2024, 7:00 PM
This May, we will celebrate the 1st annual SPARTY Awards, which will recognize and celebrate the year in sports for Spartan Athletics. The evening will recognize the accomplishments of all of our athletic programs during the 2023-2024 school year. Throughout the evening, we will highlight both team as well as individual accomplishments featuring special categories including: male and female athletes of the year, rising stars, breakout athletes, and many more.
All 9-12 Spartan athletes are encouraged to attend the ceremony with special invitations sent to those athletes who are finalists for the individual awards. We will also recognize our senior athletes who are 3-sport and/or 4-year letter winners. It will be a great night to celebrate our student-athletes all around.

Community Nomination Opportunity
There are 2 awards that we’d like community input on for the SPARTY Awards: Coach of the Year and the Spartan Legacy Award.
Coach of the Year recognizes one of our Varsity Head Coaches for their commitment, dedication, and contributions to their sport for the 2023-2024 school year.
Spartan Legacy Award recognizes one of our community members for their contributions and support for the Valley View Athletic programs.

If you’d like to nominate someone for either of these two awards, please email Michael Rasey, director of athletics, at michael.rasey@valleyview.k12.oh.us. Please put the award name in the subject line along with the name of the nominee. (i.e. “name” - Coach of the Year). Only nominations from valid email addresses will be accepted. Nominations due by April 30th.

Upcoming Parent Meetings

In an attempt to make all of our students and parents aware of upcoming Fall Sports meetings, we will list those here. If a student is even slightly interested in learning more about these sports and what it takes to get involved, we highly encourage you to attend these informational meetings. If you cannot attend the meeting, but are still interested in learning more, please reach out to the athletic office and we will get you in contact with the head coach.

new meal payment system
Kathie Lucas

As the transition to LINQ Connect from EZpay gets closer (April 29 is launch day!), we understand that one of the biggest concerns for families is the service fee per transaction for credit card ($2.60) or virtual check ($1.60) that LINQ charges. The good news is using your LINQ Connect account offers several benefits for online payments as well as in-person payments:

LINQ Connect Provides Safe and Secure Transactions:

Most schools, both private and public, offer online payment portals with robust security measures. These portals use encryption to protect your financial information, ensuring that your payments are safe and secure.

LINQ Connect Tracks Every Purchase:

Using the mobile app or website provides a convenient way to track expenses. With robust reporting, you can easily review payment history and detailed receipts of purchases. This allows you (and your student!) to plan your budget.

LINQ Connect Digital Payments Eliminate Cash Worries:

Carrying cash can be risky, especially when relying on a school-aged child who may misplace it. Digital payments eliminate the need for physical currency, ensuring your child's money is secure and accessible with a few clicks. You can still use cash (or paper check) to add funds to your student’s account by sending it with your student or taking it to your building’s main office.

LINQ Connect Allows You to Set and Forget:

Set up scheduled payments or automatic transactions for lunch fees. This automation ensures that your student always has funds available for school meals.

LINQ Connect Reminds You When Funds are Needed:

When you make a payment, you'll receive an instant notification that a payment has been processed and the system gives you a record of that activity you can reference when needed.

LINQ Connect Is an Eco-Friendly Option:

Online payments are also environmentally friendly. By reducing the need for paper checks and physical receipts, you're helping to conserve paper resources.

Next week, we will send a reminder of:
unchecked LINQ launch date in cafeterias (April 29, 2024)

unchecked Information on how, where, and when to download the mobile app and create your account (Google Play or App Store)

unchecked When to stop adding funds to your EZpay account (April 23, 2024)

unchecked When EZpay funds transfer to LINQ Connect (April 26, 2024)

unchecked And more!

If you’ve already installed the mobile app and/or set up an account, please do not start adding funds to LINQ Connect. For this week, you can still add funds to EZpay. All of those funds will be transferred to the new system before launch day.

[First post from April 8, 2024]

Valley View is excited to announce a new Meal Payment system. EZpay will be replaced with LINQ Connect beginning April 29, 2024. More information is headed your way, so please be alert to further communication!

We understand there may be many questions about this transition, such as:

Q: Why this change?
A: EZpay is no longer being supported and is no longer updated so a change was necessary.

Q: When will this change take effect?
A: LINQ Connect will start being used in cafeterias on Monday, April 29, 2024.

Q: What happens to the funds in my EZpay account?
A: Funds in your EZpay account will be transferred to the LINQ Connect system on April 26.

Q: When can I get the app and set up my account?
A: We will let you know when to get the LINQ Connect app and create an account and when you can start making contributions to that account.

Q: Is there a cost for adding funds using a credit card?
A: Unfortunately there will be a significant increase in fees when adding funds from a credit card ($2.60 per transaction) and electronic check ($1.60 per transaction.) In-person cash or check payment has no fee! Checks will still be made out to VVBOE.

Q: Can we pay school fees through LINQ Connect?
A: This new system is currently for Meal Payments only but the goal is to have a school fees payment portal available for the 2024-2025 school year.
