Transportation

The role of Valley View’s Transportation Department is to guarantee safe, efficient and cost-effective transportation of students to and from their schools. Over the years, the district has worked with its contracted bus service company, First Student in an effort to safely transport as many students as possible within the available budget.

Parents’ Role

Transporting children is a shared responsibility between home and school. While the district is responsible for children once they board their bus, families are solely responsible for the safety and supervision of their children to and from the designated bus stop and while students wait for their bus.

Parents/guardians of preschool, kindergarten and first-grade children are advised to meet and receive their children at the bus stop.

Students’ Role

Family support for appropriate behaviors is essential. Parents are asked to reinforce with their children the importance of obeying the district’s Student Code of Conduct and Bus Safety Rules when riding in a school bus. Such rules ensure the safety and welfare of all riders. Thus, if a child jeopardizes everyone’s safety by repeatedly violating these rules, the student may ultimately be denied the privilege of riding the bus.

Resolution of Problems

Bus routes are designed for safety and efficiency. Extended stop times impact multiple routes. We want to properly address any concerns you may have, so we please ask that you do not interrupt the bus schedule by talking directly with a driver while he or she is on the route. If a problem or concern arises related to school bus transportation, parents are encouraged to write the driver a note or call (937) 855-3897 to leave a message at the Bus Service Center. Building administrators may also assist with transportation-related questions.

Forms

As we prepare for this upcoming school year. The transportation department has asked for parents/guardians to communicate any special requests for the 2022-2023 school year no later than August 19.

 REQUEST FOR CHANGE IN TRANSPORTATION

A separate request form must be completed for each child, and for each new school year. Bus transportation is automatically provided to & from the student’s residence. If your student is riding to/from home, you do not need to complete this form. One alternative from the residential address, such as a shared parenting situation or babysitter may be selected in place of the residential address. There will only be ONE address serviced.

Due to the Corona virus restrictions; NO special requests such as riding home with friends, to the library, etc. will be honored.

Please return this form to the Transportation Department or corresponding school office:  Our email is the preferred method:   transportation@valleyview.k12.oh.us

All school personnel involved will be notified. Students and parents will be responsible for the student’s on-time boarding or departure from the bus.
