Junior High science and STEM students launched a weather balloon Friday with a payload of plants and seeds. The launch was assisted by members of the Wright State University Aerospace Club.
The launch, a continuation of a program postponed last spring, came through a grant earned by Junior High science and STEM teacher Jill Weaver.
The balloon traveled south on a three-hour flight, reaching a height of more than 80,000 feet before bursting and then parachuting to land. The balloon landed on a golf course near Kings Island.
Students from other Junior High classes, as well as members of the 5th grade STEM Club were on hand to enjoy the launch.
