Valley View-MVCTC FFA Officers were featured during the National FFA Convention, as the chapter was recognized as a finalist for the National Premier Chapter in the category of Growing Leaders.
“This is a tremendous honor. Our chapter has been working hard to earn this recognition and while we have received state level awards in the past, this is the first time we’ve been recognized nationally,” said FFA Advisor and Valley View agriculture teacher Betsy Martin.
Chapter members and officers gathered at the school to view the National Convention and were featured on the broadcast live from Valley View High School.
The National Chapter Award program recognizes outstanding FFA chapters that actively implement the mission and strategies of the organization. These chapters improve chapter operations using the National Quality FFA Chapter Standards and a Program of Activities that emphasizes growing leaders, building communities, and strengthening agriculture. Chapters are rewarded for providing educational experiences for the entire membership.
Chapters eligible to compete for the National Premier Chapter: Growing Leaders award demonstrate competency in doing innovative things or taking traditional concepts and applying a creative twist in the growing leaders division of the chapter’s Program of Activities. Ten three-star chapters will compete in a presentation and interview process for the top honor during this year’s national convention.
