In May, high schools in all 16 public school districts in Montgomery County hold events to celebrate their seniors’ plans for after high school. College and Career Signing Day was initiated in Montgomery County in 2014 by Learn to Earn Dayton and Montgomery County Educational Service Center.  Modeled on former First Lady, Michelle Obama’s “Reach Higher” initiative, College and Career Signing Day celebrates students’ college and career choices in a way that has typically been reserved for athletes.  Each school tailors their celebration to their respective culture with the goal of lifting up students for making wise choices and to ensure all young people are committed to life-long-learning.  Whether they are continuing their education in college or a credential program, joining the military, or entering a career field after graduation, schools celebrate their students’ transition to their next step in life.

On Tuesday May 1st, Valley View will begin Signing Day with a Senior pass through in both the Primary and Intermediate buildings approximately 1:00 pm.  (Seniors don’t forget your graduation gown for this event).  Seniors will then return to the high school where they will continue with the presentation of Seniors and their future plans.
