Mr. Wes Weidle, who is a Physician Assistant in the field of mental health (link to more information about him: providersforhealthyliving.com/wes-weidle), will come speak to sixth grade students next Friday, 11/16 at 10:00 a.m. in the Intermediate school auditorium. Sixth grade teachers, Mrs. Wellbaum and Ms. Swanson, are getting ready to launch a social and emotional ELA curriculum that has been created by the Montgomery County Educational Service Center. Mr. Weidle’s visit will be a great kick start to the program! In addition to being knowledgeable in the field of mental health, Mr. Weidle has an emotional, traumatic life story to share. His discussion to the students will be about the importance of social and emotional well being, tying in his own personal story. Beth Genslinger, who is Wes’s aunt and one of the writers/creators of the curriculum, will be coming along, also, to share out a little bit of her story and why she believes this curriculum is so necessary in schools.
