Girls Basketball update from Coach Dickson

The Spartans lost their second game of the season on Saturday against an outstanding Waynesville team. We came into the game a little flat and let Waynesville build a lead that we couldn’t come back from. We shot 11-38 from the fields for 29% when we usually shoot around 45%. That kind of shooting against any team would not be good especially a team as good as Waynesville. We also ended up with 17 turnovers. We usually only average around 8 turnovers a game. Hunter Stidham ended the game with 17 points, 9 rebounds and 3 blocked shots, Abigail Dickson with 6 pts 3 rebounds, 3 assist and 1 block. Chloe Smith with 4 points, Megan Black with 3 points, Aiden Valenti with 2 points and Lauren Legate with 2 points. We are a better team than what we played on Saturday and we will get back to work and get ready for  tournament play. We ended the regular season with a record of 19-2 ranked 2 in the state, 1st in the area and a league championship. We also received a #1 seed in the up coming sectional tournament. I could not be more proud of what these girls have accomplished this season and looking forward to more good things to come. Please purchase your tickets from the athletic office for our tournament game on February 21 at 6:00 in Lebanon. We will play the winner of Dunbar and Madison game that will be played on Feb 17. Last night a few of our girls were honored by the dabbelt report which covers girls basketball in this part of Ohio. Hunter Stidham and Chloe Smith made the all area 1st team and Abigail Dickson made all-area 2nd team honors and I was named coach of the year for Div. 2. This honor just shows how good my coaching staff of Butch Stidham and Anna Tyra at the High school level and Rox Skidmore and Nickie Towery at the JH levels and how good my players were this year. You do not win honors unless you have good coaches and good athletes around you. I believe I have the best coaches and players in the area. Please come out and support us on Feb 21 at 6:00 at Lebanon High school.
