From the Superintendent - "The Board and administration have gathered suggestions for reductions from staff and members of the community.  The list of reductions to achieve the 1.5 million does not reflect what the board and administration want to do, but what we have to do to reduce our expenditures.  This round of reductions is especially hard since the District had reduced approximately 1.6 million in expenditures last year.We are once again asking staff to do more with less. Administrators are on the list for less pay and an increase in the contribution to health insurance.

The list of reductions includes 3.5 teacher positions at the elementary level. A reduction of 5.5 teacher positions and 3 plus aide positions at the secondary level.
The elimination of junior high school athletics leading to approx. $70,000 in savings to the General Fund.

The Board and administration spent several hours looking at Contracted Services for Transportation.
With the knowledge that all transportation employees will have the opportunity to continue employment and that Transportation services will continue at the present level of operation – the Board and administration believe entering into a contract with First Student will result in saving jobs and $750,000 for the General Fund.  The agreement will save approximately 14 jobs in the District at this time.

It is difficult to make these recommendations to the Board.  The State of Ohio requires that school district have a plan in action aligning expenditures with revenue.  But this is not the most difficult part of my job- the most difficult part is delivering letters to staff that they will no longer be employed." - Bill Kirby
