"GOOD" Awards presented to Sixth Graders

For the 21st consecutive year, the Germantown Lions Club presented "Good citizen" awards to twenty sixth graders at a special assembly on Thursday, Feb.9 in the Valley View Intermediate School auditorium. The assembly was attended by the entire sixth grade class as well as Parents and Family members.  The Germantown Lions are charter members in presenting these "GOOD" awards.  Ron Derry, a former teacher and coach from Northwest Ohio became blind due to complications of diabetes.  He still wanted to do positive things for students even though his teaching and coaching were no longer possible.  He had to decide, will I go on or will I be defeated by blindness.  The acronym GOOD stands for Going On Or Defeated.  The "GOOD" awards are given to students who exemplify good citizenship traits on a daily basis.  The Germantown Lions are proud to participate in this worthwhile project.
